Riverhead, NY Riverhead, NY Full-time Full-time $24 - $25 an hour $24 - $25 an hour Community Coordinator Under the direct supervision of the Community Relations Director, the Community Coordinator works in a hybrid environment and is tasked with connecting Rise Life Services to the community.
This position will require you to assist the Community Relations Director in grant writing, event planning, our volunteer program, and other fundraising activities.
The Community Coordinator is passionate about connecting nonprofits to the community, skilled in writing and research and has an interest in helping expand our services to better assist the disabled individuals we serve.
Responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate with our directors on grants and research opportunities.
With the help of the Community Relations Director, you will assist departments in writing NYS grants with deadlines.
Writes clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive grant proposals that make a strong case for funding.
Works with the Community Relations Director to provide progress reports on proposals that are submitted, pending, or declined.
- Assist in the planning and sponsorship acquisition for our annual events.
Rise has 4-5 annual public Fundraising Events with a fundraising goal of $300,000.
The Community Coordinator and Community Relations Director attends every Rise Fundraising Event.
Send out ask letters and emails to possible sponsors.
Occasional errands to pick up donations may occur.
Occasional phone calls to sponsors may occur.
- Take lead of our Volunteer ProgramConnect Supports (55
communities, high school students and college students) with Rise to volunteer in our programs or host an event on behalf of Rise.
Send out letters and emails to make connections with possible supporters.
Set and attend meetings with supporters to present the program.
- Work closely with the Community Relations Director on PR stories, Marketing, B2B connections and internal strategic planning.
o Weekly meetings with our Huntington marketing team o Coordinate with internal teams on PR stories - Researching alternative funding streams with local foundations and corporate giving programs.
Use of FoundationSearch and corporate websites.
- Attend department meetings and on occasion local events for networking.
- Make occasional phone calls to high level donors and event sponsors.
Minimum
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, B.
S.
preferred but not required - Exceptional written and oral communication skills - Experience with Canva is a plus but not required - Exceptionally strong computer skills - Ability to learn and manage grant portals - Highly Organized - Ability to work in a team environment Your schedule will closely mirror the Community Relations Directors schedule, you will work in tandem.
Some weeks may fluctuate between time in the office and time at home, time is mostly spent working from home with some 1-2 hour meetings throughout the week.
Here is a general outline of the week:
5 hours a week at our Huntington Location 5-10 hours a week at our Riverhead Location 20-25 hours a week working from home.
